Civil Service Commission
Consists of five members appointed by City Council to three-year terms. Normally meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m., at the Court House, if there is business for the commission to consider. This is a decision-making body responsible for the oversight of the merit selection plan for employees of the City as specified in the City Charter. The Charter exempts various positions from the commission's control, including elected officials, department heads, unskilled labor, temporary employees, and seasonal or part-time employees. Oversees demotion or removal of employees and hears appeals of suspensions, demotions, and removals of civil service employees. Oversees the merit selection of certain non-teaching positions at Talawanda City School District.
